Nelson Ren, Director at Hill & Knowlton Shanghai, applies his expertise to the areas of strategic development and PR plan execution. With his extensive background in journalism and as an in-house PR specialist, Nelson is able to utilize his combined experience in public relations and media to lead accounts such as Bosch, DSM, Hogan & Hartson LLP, DLA LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP and the Shanghai Auto Industry Corporation.
Before joining Hill & Knowlton, Nelson was Managing Editor and Chief Reporter at The Daily Chinese Herald, one of Australia's largest Chinese newspapers. At the Herald, Nelson supervised editing and reporting and was also assigned to interview such major dignitaries as the Australian Prime Minister John Howard and China's Ambassador to Australia, Ms. Fu Ying.
Prior to his work at the Herald, Nelson was a Public Affairs Specialist for General Motors China from 2001 to 2002. As the individual responsible for overseeing the auto giant's media relations in southern and eastern China, he participated in a number of major events, including the GM sponsored APEC meeting in Shanghai.
Nelson has also worked as an assistant editor/reporter at Henan Daily, where he was awarded numerous honors, including the bronze medal for China News Awards, the most coveted honor within the Chinese media industry.
Nelson holds a Masters Degree in International Communication from Australia's Macquarie University, and a BA in Journalism from Wuhan University.
