Hill & Knowlton China and Clients Win Big at 2008 CIPRA Awards

Shanghai, November 19, 2008 – Hill & Knowlton China, a leading global public relations firm, was honored with four silver awards for outstanding client work at the recent 8th China Golden Award for Excellence in Public Relations. Both of Hill & Knowlton’s Chinese offices were honored at the ceremony, picking up two Silver Awards each.

CIPRA is China's most influential public relations organization and is affiliated with the International Public Relations Association. The CIPRA Congress and Awards Ceremony are held every two years, attracting the attention and participation of the leading public relations firms in China and the Asia Pacific region. Its awards are widely considered the highest professional achievement in the Chinese public relations industry. A total of 13 Gold Awards and 37 Silver Awards were handed out at the ceremony which gathered around 300 industry professionals across China.

"Being recognized by CIPRA is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity that Hill & Knowlton China strives to bring to all of our clients," said David Zhao, Managing Director of Hill & Knowlton Shanghai. "We are delighted to know that our hard work and dedication to producing the highest-quality work in the industry has not gone unnoticed. From turning a little-known Korean food storage brand into China’s best recognized brand in its field, to effectively communicating London’s position as a leading world city, we have much to be proud of today."

Joining in this sentiment, John Holden, the recently appointed Managing Director of Hill & Knowlton Beijing, was equally enthusiastic. "This is a tremendous accomplishment for us," said Holden. "We are honored that our professionalism and commitment to excellence are seen as among the best in the industry." He went on to discuss how the attention given Mercedes-Benz’s efforts to support natural world heritage site protection in China confirms the increasing importance of corporate responsibility and emphasizes the need to effectively engage stakeholders. "As my colleague David Zhao has noted," he continued, ""Brand building in China is enhanced when it is in harmony with government priorities; we are proud that our attention to this principle has been recognized by the judges."
